Busan: Never heard of this one before

Got up one last time inside of Optimus, packed up my stuff, and headed with Jason from LA to the bus depot to catch a bus to Pusan.   We got to Pusan in a little over an hour and took the subway almost straight to the hostel.  This hostel was super nice--Zen Backpackers Guesthouse.  It was on the 15th floor of a commercial building, so the views are spectacular.

Jason and I ventured for lunch, staying relatively close to the hostel, and magiced upon a fried chicken place, which was our failure from the night before.  We sat down and tried to order the spicy chicken, but this lady at the table next assumed we couldn't handle spicy food, and tried to rescue our situation.  We told her spicy was ok.  She was amazed.  In fact, everyone is amazed when I say a like spicy.  Its not like a minor jolt of surprise--it is a serious volcano of "wow".  Thats the next Korean phrase I plan to learn: "no for reals.  I want this spicy!".   We thanked the lady for trying to save us and began chatting with her and her husband.  Her husband was a police officer (off duty).  He gave us his business card, bought us a beer, and told us to "call him if we get into trouble".  How amazing.  Oh yea, the chicken was incredible.

We took it easy for the afternoon.  I did some laundry in the shower.  Hostels overcharge for the use of their washer dryer, so Dr. Bonners it is.  Later that evening I went out with Jason and walked around the city.  It was massive.  The flicker of neon signs seemed to continue into the horizon.  We ended the night going to a Japanese restaraunt.  I was so proud of myself when I read the menu and figured out the word "Heineken" spelled out in Hangul.
